Curriculum Overview:

In Math, students cover number sense, computation, algebra and functions, geometry, measurement, data analysis and probability, and problem solving.

Science covers the three main branches, life, physical and earth. Social Studies includes a heavy emphasis on learning about Maryland, it’s history, government, geography and citizens. Through our Reading program, Treasures, students learn to summarize information, identify main ideas and supporting details, determine cause and effect. Comprehension is strongly emphasized through identifying story elements, comparing and contrasting and interpreting figurative language. English includes a continuation of using proper grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, and the mechanics of writing. Reading and English are often combined through reading a variety of novels throughout the school year. Through Spelling, students learn word origins, context clues, and vocabulary. We use the Sadlier We Believe series for Religion, and learn more about the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes, and develop a greater appreciation for the Sacraments.
