Fr. Stephen Wyble - Administrator
Fr. Wyble grew up in Kensington and attended Holy Redeemer Church and School, and then The Heights for middle and high school. He earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Philosophy at The Catholic University of America, where he also entered seminary in 2009. Fr. Wyble then spent five years in Rome and earned two Graduate Degrees in Sacred Theology. Fr. Wyble was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington in 2016 and has since been assigned as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac and then as Pastor of Sacred Heart and Holy Angels parishes in Southern Maryland. Fr. Wyble began as Administrator of Holy Cross Church and School in 2023.
Lisa Maio Kane, M.Ed. - Principal
Lisa Maio Kane earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University, a Master of Education from Marymount University and an Administration and Supervision Certificate from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She is a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society. Mrs. Kane began her career at Holy Cross in 2004 as the Resource Teacher and Testing Coordinator. In 2008, she became Assistant Principal and was elevated to principal in 2009.
Mrs. Kane was named the Archdiocese of Washington 2022-2023 Distinguished Principal of the Year. In 2012, Mrs. Kane was awarded a MEGGY from the Maryland Educators of Gifted Students. In 2013, she led Holy Cross School to its first National Blue Ribbon Award for Academic Excellence. In 2005-2006 she was named the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic School Teacher of the Year. That same year she received the Knights of Columbus Monsignor O’Donnell Teacher of the Year Award.
Mrs. Kane believes in educating the whole child ~ mind, body, and soul.
Teresa Overly - Assistant Principal and Pre-Kindergarten 4 Lead Teacher
Teresa Overly graduated from the University of Maryland and received a Masters of Education (PK-6) from Marymount University. Her career at Holy Cross School began in 2002 as the Teacher’s Assistant in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom. She was then selected to become the lead Pre-Kindergarten teacher for the four year-olds program at Holy Cross School. Mrs. Overly was recognized as the Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year by the Rock Creek Council of The Knights of Columbus. Mrs. Overly currently serves on the school Leadership Team and is the faculty representative on the School Advisory Board.
Ann Smith - School Office Manager
Ann Smith earned an Associate Arts in Medical Assisting from Montgomery College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Maryland University College. She is a licensed Medication Technician. Mrs. Smith began working in Holy Cross' front office in 2004. Her prior experience includes 12 years as a Certified Medical Assistant followed by Executive Assistant to managing partners in government services.
Mrs. Smith is an empty nester at home but believes all Holy Cross children are hers during the school day!
Christine Zalewski - Director of Development & Admissions
Christine Zalewski earned a BA in Communications from Penn State. Prior to joining the Holy Cross staff, Mrs. Z served as a Regional Vice President of Operations and Director of Organizational and Leadership Development for private corporations in the health care field. She has experience in strategic planning, performance management, creating and delivering professional development and managing enterprise social networks. Mrs. Z is the proud mother of two Holy Cross School alumna. While her children attended Holy Cross, Mrs. Z held many volunteer positions and served on the School Advisory Board for many years, including two years as the board chairperson.
Francesca Russo - Office of Child Care Coordinator, VIRTUS Compliance Coordinator, and First Grade Teaching Assistant
Mrs. Russo earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Mount Saint Mary's University and a Master's in Education, Professional Studies from Marymount University. She has over 12 years of experience teaching PreK 3 and Kindergarten within the Archdiocese of Washington. In 2004-2005, Mrs. Russo was awarded the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools Teacher of the Year (from Holy Cross). That same year she received the Knights of Columbus Monsignor O'Donnell Teacher of the Year Award. Mrs. Russo also has administrative experience as she was a Preschool Director for 6 years for a small Christian Preschool in Rockville, MD. She rejoined the staff of Holy Cross in 2023 as the Office of Child Care Coordinator, VIRTUS Compliance Coordinator and First Grade Teaching Assistant. Mrs. Russo enjoys being the #1 fan at her children's sporting events, gardening and Sunday night dinners. Mrs. Russo lives in Rockville with her husband and three teenage children.
